My Favorite Delivery

...when, what to my wondering eyes should appear?
An Amazon box full of eight (I mean 12) tiny reindeer (I mean books).

Next time I complain about my bank account, someone come and slap me - figuratively. I just can't help filling up my shopping cart with great books to bring to my students. I'm planning my first Book Drawing tomorrow to select the lucky students to check these little guys out first.

I'm thinking about "Wonder" for my next read aloud. Has anyone read it? Thoughts? My second choice is Skeleton Creek. Then, I may get my students hooked on another series.

Thoughts teacher friends?

  3. OMG so many good books! Did Wonder as a read aloud in fall and it was so amazing to see my kids get so much out of it! Wrote a post about it last week actually, come check it out. :) Reading One and Only Ivan right now. I haven't read Skeleton Creek--is it a good one?

  4. You HAVE to read Wonder. It is an awesome book! I liked it so much I read it 4 times while I wrote this Novel Unit for my own use and TpT : http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Wonder-by-RJ-Palacio-Novel-Study-Unit

I'm adding it to my list of yearly "must read" read-alouds. A truly awesome book.

  6. Hands down Wonder. I read it aloud and about five chapters in I had 4 students buy it on their own!! And then they started passing it to friends. I am pretty sure all of my kids have read it now... but out of principle am still going to finish it as a read aloud. It is awesome!!!!

  7. I'm reading Wonder aloud to my 5th grade class. The kids really like it, and are connecting with the message for sure. You have a great pile of books there!

  8. I am starting Wonder with my fifth graders on Monday because of a recommendation I came across while blog hopping. However, I did the Skeleton Creek series with my fifth grade class last year and my kids were CRAZY about it. They could not control themselves each time we got to a new video. I wound up reading the second book to them to, because they wrote persuasive letters begging me to continue with the series for our read aloud. Stacy@ http://new-in-room-202.blogspot.com

  9. I'm reading Wonder right now. I'll admit it's starting slow and they aren't begging for more like they did with "Holes, Ungifted and Ivan". I'm plugging along because I've heard it's a great story!

  12. I loved Wonder and The One and Only Ivan. I haven't read any of the other books! What a sweet teacher you are to spend so much money on your class. (Don't we all? I love books!)
